Our Mission: We are a network of men who are members of the Sarepta Baptist Association whose purpose is to form a partnership to strengthen one another in fulfilling the Great Commandment and the Great Commission.

Welcome to the website for men. Dedicated to reaching all men no matter where they are to find a home in serving our Lord through following Jesus Christ. We are trying to make this site available to reach men that have a hunger for something more, some reason or purpose to live for and for men to serve that are already following Christ. There is nothing more disobedient than to claim Christ and be a pew warmer. Please find a ministry to serve in through your local church. Or please talk to a Christian friend or e-mail this site about following Christ if you haven’t.

MESSAGE
Then Jesus went with his disciples to a place called Gethsemane, and he said to them, "Sit here while I go over there and pray.” (Matthew 26:36)
The Garden of Gethsemane, the city of the olive press, the place where we find Jesus at the defining moment of His putting arrest the matter of betrayal and sin of man followed by the tragic events of His betrayal and arrest by man. Gethsemane, situated on the Mount of Olives just east of Jurusalem, across the Kidron Valley and opposite the temple is the place where Jesus went often to pray, where he went to be alone and get rest and also to have fellowship with other believers. Is it not significant that it is here he settled his purpose in coming to earth, here that he sweat drops of blood in pleading with His Father in heaven, and here that he met with the reality of His separation from heaven.
Gethsemane was the center of commerce where olive orchard owners brought their olives to have them placed under a millstone to be rolled and broken, then pressed under the weight of a huge rock and then squeezed to press out the fine olive oil that was used for anointing, for dressing wounds, and as a fuel for lighting lamps. It is also here that our Lord came one starry night with three disciples to have them sit and watch while He went alone in a garden located in Gethsemane to pray. Here is where He communicated the burden of greatest proportion He had to bear to the One in whom He could only bear it with. Here is where the disciples dropped their guard for human reason while the Son of man accepted the burden and blame for them and for us for spiritual reason. It is here the Son of God in human flesh literally realized the purpose and the heavy weight of the burden he had to bear and in the process blood squeezed out of His pores as He sweat. It is here that He became the olive oil that anoints us, that heals our wounds, and that lights our path.
Oh Gethsemane, Gethsemane, Oh city of olives and city of oil,
Out of your garden a new shoot arises, out of your presses a new oil is formed,
The world asleep while olives grind, you press out a resolve for man,
This night of toil sweats blood that binds, His blood for us and our faith for Him.
If men only realized the significance of the cross we would become more like Him.

SOME HUMOR
A precocious 4 year old was brought to the ER with a severe cough. She kept up a non-stop conversation while the nurse was trying to assess her lung sounds. Finally the nurse said, "SHHH! I have to see if Barney is in there." The child looked at the nurse calmly and said, "Jesus is in my heart. Barney is on my underwear.."
MID LIFE CRISIS
My brother recently bought a new sports car and with his wife and 2 youngest boys, drove over to my dad's to show him the car. "Nice car," commented dad. To which the 11 year old replied, "My dad is just going through his mid life crisis. I want to go through my mid life crisis when I am 15."
Trying to Get One Over on Dad
A young boy had just gotten his driving permit. He asked his father, who was a minister, if they could discuss his use of the car. His father said to him, "I'll make a deal with you. You bring your grades up, study your Bible more, and get your hair cut, then we will talk about it." A month later the boy came back and again asked his father if they could discuss his use of the car. His father said, "Son, I`m real proud of you. You have brought your grades up, you've studied your Bible diligently, but you didn`t get a hair cut!" The young man waited a moment and replied, "You know dad, I`ve been thinking about that. You know Samson had long hair, Moses had long hair, Noah had long hair, and even Jesus had long hair." His father replied, "Yes son, and they walked everywhere they went!" |
